Five maintenance habits that protect your solar output
Panels are low maintenance, not no maintenance. These simple habits keep generation close to design figures.
Keep the glass clean
Dust is the biggest single loss factor in our climate. A dusty array can lose a significant share of its output before you notice anything on the bill. Quarterly cleaning is a sensible baseline, and monthly cleaning pays for itself near construction sites and main roads.
Read your inverter
Check the app once a week. A string that suddenly produces less than its twin usually points to shading, a loose connector or a failing module, and catching it early keeps the loss small.
Inspect structure and cabling
Clamps loosen, cable ties degrade in sunlight and rodents chew loose runs. An annual walk over the array with a torque wrench and a fresh set of ties prevents most avoidable failures.
Respect the battery
Keep lithium batteries ventilated and out of direct sun. Avoid running them flat repeatedly, and let the battery management system do its job rather than overriding settings.
Keep records
Save your commissioning report, warranty certificates and serial numbers in one place. Warranty claims move quickly when the paperwork is ready.
